Kirchnerist candidate Domingo Peppo was elected governor of Chaco province Sunday with a lead of over 13 points.
Peppo, the leader of Frente Chaco Merece Más, received 55.4% of the vote and easily defeated Aida Ayala (42.3%), who was supported by an alliance of the UCR, Pro, the Frente Renovador and Progresistas.

“The people of Chaco have given a lesson in democracy,” said Peppo after securing over 55% of the vote. “[The victory] is a strong message to the country,” he added.
Ayala said she respected the voters’ choice, reported Diario Chaco, and added that “we have to accept results.”
The province estimated around 70% of eligible voters participated in an election that was carried out without major incident, quelling fears there could be repeat of the disputed Tucumán vote. The independent electoral court in the province was watched by “international” observers” said outgoing governor, Jorge Capitanich.
“This is a triumph for democracy,” he said to reporters after placing his own vote early Sunday morning.
Capitanich, of the same party as Peppo, also won his campaign to be the mayor of Resistencia, the provincial capital and most populated city. His narrow victory ended 16-years of opposition rule in the city.
