An explosion at an underground electrical chamber left one person dead and two wounded this morning. The incident occurred near the corner of Charcas and Aráoz, in the neighbourhood of Palermo.
The prosecutor in charge of the case is investigating the causes of the explosion. Despite early reports to the contrary, it has been confirmed that it was not the result of a gas leak.
The three people involved in the incident were doing work for electricity company Edenor, cleaning and painting the underground chamber. According to the prosecutor, they were using the appropriate safety equipment.
The dead worker was 25-years old. It has been reported that he died after receiving a 13,200-watt electric shock. The other two workers, aged 43 and 45, are recovering favourably and are expected to testify soon.
The area around the explosion remains without electricity.
