Judge Deems Magistrates Council Reform Unconstitutional

Yesterday evening, Federal Judge María Romilda Servini de Cubría declared the government’s proposition to select members of the magistrates’ council via general election unconstitutional. Reform of the manner in which the magistrates’ council is chosen and the council’s structure is one of the key clauses of the government’s controversial judicial reform measures, proposed by President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner on 2nd March.
